Grounded in Scholarship and Practice
My perspective is informed by 22 years in education and 16 years of teaching across K–20 settings. My experience includes secondary and postsecondary Spanish teaching, World Languages Department Chair leadership, graduate-level university instruction, faculty support, and the facilitation of professional-learning experiences. I hold a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Denver, where my scholarship centered humanizing pedagogy and student–faculty pedagogical partnerships.
Humanizing Pedagogy
Humanizing pedagogy recognizes learners as whole people whose identities, experiences, knowledge, and aspirations belong within the learning process. I support educators in considering how dialogue, relational trust, belonging, and shared responsibility can shape rigorous and meaningful learning environments.
Student–Faculty Pedagogical Partnerships
Pedagogical partnerships bring students and faculty together to examine and strengthen teaching and learning. My research explores how these relationships can disrupt traditional hierarchies, foster reciprocity, and create new possibilities for understanding the teacher–student relationship.
Faculty Development
Inclusive teaching requires thoughtful attention to the different ways learners engage, participate, and demonstrate their understanding. I welcome opportunities to support educators in developing relational, responsive, and neurodiversity-affirming approaches to teaching.
Professional Collaboration
Humanizing teaching and learning through dialogue, partnership, and shared inquiry.
I welcome opportunities to collaborate with educators, researchers, and institutions through invited speaking, workshops, research partnerships, faculty development, and other projects centered on humanizing teaching and learning.
Exploratory Consultation
Collaborative conversations with educators or institutions considering student–faculty pedagogical partnerships, faculty-development initiatives, or other efforts to strengthen teaching and learning.
Research Collaboration
I welcome opportunities to collaborate on research related to humanizing pedagogy, student–faculty partnerships, teacher–student relationships, inclusive teaching, and qualitative inquiry. Possibilities might include collaborative studies, conference presentations, publications, or cross-institutional projects.
